Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was granted immunity last year by special counsel Jack Smith in exchange for his testimony against Donald Trump. Often white collar cases become a rat race full of terrified lames willing to do anything to stay out of jail. They can't simply keep their mouths shut and do their own time, so they make others do their time for them. Nobody can trust a stone cold rat like Mark Meadows. Donald Trump gave him a great job and this is how he was repaid.
Criminal prosecutions in this country often rely on rats like Meadows to convict people despite back stabbing rats being one of the least credible sources of information on the planet. The prosecution always white washes anything their snitches do and tries to make them look like good people just because they can't be trusted to keep their mouths shut.
