February 8, 2021 - MODoC in association with the Butler County Sheriff's Department, Poplar Bluff Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation released the name.of several high-ranking gang members that operated as, undercover informants for the FBI's Safe Streets and Gangs Unit. While there were names released with ties to all major gangs most notable to was that of.36 year-old Goeffrey Donald Spears, Jr. A longtime resident of both Kennett and Poplar Bluff and a high-ranking figure in Southeast Missouri's Gangstas Disciples organization. Spears, who now faces felony charges for assault, unlawful use of a weapon,.and.Armed Criminal Action, was revealed to have been secretly working with federal authorities from within the GD hierarchy to undermine growth and seize all unlawful profits for the past eight years. Spears' current whereabouts are unknown at this time, but the search is.underway.. Any information about Spears and his associates should be reported to local authorities immediately.
