"The Mayor and Police Chief of Federal Way are allowing large groups to gather every day at the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club. Although the the Twin Lakes golf course claims they are closed there are signs up saying the course is “open” to members and there are large groups of golfers on the course standing very close to each other every day. They are all tailgating in the parking lot all while the police look on. I have an email from Mayor Jim Farrell agreeing to this and saying it is acceptable to him and he will allow it. Also on this email chain is an email from the Federal Way police chief saying they don’t have the authority to approve playing golf as part of a security force but they are not enforcing the Governors order and will not enter the property and will also provide extra security patrols for them. Federal Way can barely keep up with our crime issues as they are and now we are paying tax dollars to patrol golfers. Dozens of us in the neighborhood have filed violation reports with the State but they say they don’t know what to do about it so tell us to call the local police. We have shared these emails with the State showing that the police will not do anything about it. We are very concerned that this situation will exacerbate the spread of this virus in our community." - Mel Ward
